Jack Nimmons
Group Operations Director
Since 2011
"Having worked my way up through the ranks, I have a vast knowledge of how the business operates on a daily basis... I couldn’t see myself working in any other industry now."
  • Tell us about your role?
I have worked for The Rocksalt Group since October 2011, 3 months after the business opened. Having worked my way up through the ranks, firstly as Assistant and Events Manager at Rocksalt to Operations Manager and then onto Group Operations Director, I have a vast knowledge of how the business operates on a daily basis. I am responsible for implementing our staff structures and group strategies across the group. From sourcing new suppliers to negotiating new contracts and working with our Senior Management team I enjoy delivering on the operational side of the business and supporting our individual site Managers in how we execute and roll out changes amongst the group.
  • What’s the best part of the job?
With a real passion for food and drink, I couldn’t see myself working in any other industry now. Having completed WSET qualifications to further my knowledge in the wine & spirits industry, you can expect to always see a vast variety of fantastic drink offerings across our groups. The best part of course, is getting to taste and visit some of the best producers out there and I play a key role in sourcing the best local suppliers from right here on our doorstep in Kent.
  • What’s your favourite venue & why?
My favourite venue has to be The Duke William in Ickham. If you are looking for a day trip out or want to make a weekend of it then here you’ll also find a stunning collection of B&B rooms above the pub. Located in a stunning setting with open fields to the back beyond the large garden, it really is the perfect place to just drive out to after a busy week to escape in the beautiful Kent countryside. The combination of delicious food, diverse drink options and overall atmosphere, makes it my favourite choice of all to escape to with the whole family.
  • And second choice?
Has to be The Woolpack Inn in Warehorne. It’s proximity to Gusbourne Vineyard means that I get to combine my two favourite activities in one weekend. Fine wine and great food located in a relaxed setting opposite the Church and open fields, means I get to really switch off and relax here.
  • Hobbies & Fun Fact?
I enjoy a wide variety of sports including squash, running, rugby, working out and of course eating and drinking fine wines, does that count as a hobby? I think so! Fun fact is that I get to work with my wife, now she gets to not only boss me around at home, but at work too, i’ll let you be the judge of how ‘fun’ that can be!
