Statement from Andrew Edwards, World renowned sculpture who has only just this week unveiled a new statue of Queen Elizabeth II in Newcastle-under-Lyme.
Andrew commented:
“I am deeply proud and honoured to have been commissioned to sculpture statues, presented to and unveiled by, iconic and legendary world figures which include:
President Barrack Obama, Queen Elizabeth II, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, The Beatles on Liverpool Waterfront, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, The Princess Royal, The Earl of Wessex, Sir Alex Ferguson, Sir Geoff Hurst,Muhammad Ali, Pelé and many others.
Scale models of the public artworks I’m commissioned to create are saved in my collection and are very rarely exhibited or released. When made aware that Sir Geoff Hurst, England’s iconic number 10, is making farewell public appearances in 2024, I decided to make available for the very first time a unique small edition scale bronze monument of Geoff. This decision was also significantly influenced by Cure Leukaemia Charity being a major beneficiary of the money raised by the sale of the statue.
I refined my sculpture to be closer to the original source for my study - of Geoff playing in the famous 1966 FIFA World Cup Quarter-Final against Argentina where he scored the only and winning goal. Sir Bobby Charlton described it as “...the best England goal I ever saw in my time with the squad.
The bronze statue is 12-14 inch in height and can be signed by Geoff and if desirable handed in person to the acquirer.”
